new house

Moving Day!

Yesterday Daniel and I loaded up a big ol' truck and moved into our new house.  This wasn't really the plan--our lease on our rent house doesn't end for four more weeks, but our landlord started showing the house and (if we can be out quickly) if someone wants it earlier than the end of our contract, we might just get a little money back.  So away we went!
Penny freaks out when we pack for anything, so I loaded her up in a box to assure her she was coming with us :) (I didn't leave her in there long, guys).

She actually mellowed out a lot when I put her in there, haha.  She's a strange one.

So last night was our first sleep in the new place.  We still have a long way to go on getting the house done (most of the upstairs is still without flooring!), but it was so exciting to finally stay there after over a month of hard work.  Can't wait to update you on all of our projects!

We're Buying a House!

Now that we've been through the inspection process, I can finally announce that we are buying a house! :)

We close in mid March, and Daniel and I are so excited to make this space our own.  We're also constantly asking one another when we became old enough for this, and how did we get so blessed?

I never updated you all on how the first evening of looking at houses went because we found the one that night!  It was our second stop.  I walked in, started crying a little, Daniel looked at me and said, "Okay." We knew it was it.  We made an offer that night after seeing three more houses and finding out there was already an offer on our house.  We found out the next afternoon our offer was accepted!  From there, we set up an inspection that was postponed several days due to last week's blizzard.  Thankfully the inspection went well, and we're happily moving forward.

We've had projects on our minds for the past couple of weeks, and much of our intentional time together has been spent clicking through Pinterest and walking around Home Depot. :) Fine by me!

This house will be the first place Daniel and I move into at the same time.  It'll be OUR space from the beginning.  It'll also be the house our future babies make messes in.  I am over the moon!

And I owe it to my sweet husband, who is a master at crunching numbers and calling realtors and lenders.  WHAT A MAN. Thanks, boo!

Couch Shopping

Since Daniel and I started looking at houses, we've been slowly taking inventory of what we have and trying to decide what our priorities will be in terms of purchasing furniture, decor, etc.  And I'm pretty excited, because one of the first things we've agreed to consider is a new couch!  Our couch now has been with me since sophomore year of college.  It's pea green suede and shows EVERYTHING--it came from a garage sale.  And after two years of college and two plus years with our puppy girls, this means it's looking pretty stinkin' gross at this point.

So we're dreaming of a couch that doesn't need to be vacuumed twice a day! And one that won't show it every time one of the dogs decides to obsessively lick the arm rest.  And maybe even a couch that'll be crayon and marker friendly when we have crazy little ones down the road!

We're just starting the looking process, and these don't necessarily fit the bill, but here are a few we like so far. And, best part--they wouldn't break the bank!

Having someone to get excited over a couch with is kind of a lot of fun.  And I appreciate so much that Daniel and I have similar taste.  We agreed we want to make the inside of our new house much classier than our rent house, but we still want it to look a little quirky and young.  Marriage is FUN.  Can't wait to keep you updated on this whole process!

Happy Friday, folks!  Have a warm, cozy weekend!

Nat & Kyle's Family Photos

Today looked like this:

This was outside my dad's house this morning, right before Daniel and I loaded the car to head home.  We had plans to stay in Tulsa through the Super Bowl, but the weather got serious real quick, so it was time to go.  And I'm glad we left when we did, because the hour and forty-five minute trip took three and a half hours.  But that's okay, because we're home safe now, sitting in front of the fireplace half-watching the game after a fantastic short weekend.  Really, it was one for the books.

I'm so glad the weather mostly held up for my shoots yesterday.  I'll be posting some of them over the next couple of weeks, and I can't wait! First off, though, I have to share a few photos of Nat and her husband in front of their new house!  It's coming along beautifully, and I love seeing my best friend so happy.

After eight inches of snow today, it's hard to believe yesterday looked like this.

:) How cute is baby Roxy?

Hope you're off the roads, sitting around with your loved ones, munching on some yummy snacks this evening!
